About
As the first and only nonprofit in the world to focus equal attention on increasing awareness, research and tangible support for families affected by sarcomas, the Houston-based Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation (ASCF):
• Encourages promising young sarcoma researchers to enter the field through its pre-doctoral fellowship programs.
• Provides thousands of nights of free temporary housing to sarcoma patients seeking treatment “away from home” from doctors who specialize in treating the disease, thus reducing barriers to life-saving treatments.
• Works to increase awareness of sarcoma among members of the general population and the medical community to promote early diagnosis of the disease when outcomes may be greatly improved.
• With the help of its scientific review board (consisting of some of the world’s premier sarcoma specialists), directly funds sarcoma research aimed at ultimately bringing more effective treatments to the patients who need them as soon as possible.
