About
Nurse-Family Partnership® (NFP) empowers women having their first baby who are living in poverty to change their lives and the lives of their children. The NFP home visiting program pairs a registered nurse with a low-income, first-time mom to help her have a healthy pregnancy and full-term delivery. NFP nurses also coach new moms on strong parenting skills and child development, and help families set goals to achieve economic self-sufficiency. More than 30 years of research from randomized, controlled trials has shown many positive outcomes from the Nurse-Family Partnership program, including reduced child abuse and neglect, decreased juvenile crime and improved school readiness. The nonprofit national NFP organization works to bring this proven program to more vulnerable families and communities, and ensure program quality and positive results. Independent research shows that for every dollar invested in NFP, a community can realize up to five dollars in return.
