About

TreeFolks grows central Texas urban forests through tree planting, education and community partnerships. Our programs work closely with schools, community organizations, government municipalities and neighborhood associations to educate and involve citizens in tree planting and care. During the 2011-2012 planting season, TreeFolks helped to plant or distribute 13,000 trees in Central Texas. TreeFolks programs include:

• NeighborWoods, which delivers 3,600 free street trees each year to home owners in the Austin Energy service area to combat the urban heat island effect;
• CityShade, which coordinates opportunities for citizens to participate in public tree planting events to improve their communities;
• The Great Texas Tree Roundup, which trains citizens to identify and map trees in their communities to learn the economic, social and environmental benefits of trees;
• Sapling Days, which provides native saplings at various events in Central Texas each October; and
• Education, which offers workshops, tree giveaways and presentations for community groups and events.
