Good Samaritan Rescue Mission is a 213-bed homeless shelter in Corpus Christi, Texas. It is the largest shelter for the homeless in this region of the state. Our goal is to take a homeless person from the streets and return that person to society through providing food, shelter, clothing, employment, medical care, spiritual counseling, and community supportive services. To those who are open, we share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
About Us
Established in 1953, Good Sam is the largest homeless shelter in the Coastal Bend, providing 213 beds and serving an average of 550 plates daily. Both a day and night shelter (never closed), we offer a wide array of supportive services tailored to help the homeless move from the street to independence.
We do not accept government funding and are supported entirely by private grants and donations from people just like you, enabling us to maximize innovation, improvisation and agility. As the need in the community changes, we can swiftly change direction or improvise to meet a previously unknown or unmet need.
With the exception of our executive director, our entire staff first came to us as homeless clients in need of shelter. Unique among other providers, Good Sam is run BY the homeless FOR the homeless. Our programs are products of THEIR innovation, problem solving skills, and life experiences.
