Our mission is to secure health rights for those in need.About Us
Founded in 1969, the National Health Law Program protects and advances the health rights of low-income and underserved individuals. The oldest nonprofit of its kind, NHeLP advances its mission at both the state and local levels through litigation in the courts, education of other advocates, and the advancement of sound public policy in legislatures and agencies.We challenge injustices and inequities to ensure that our national health system is accessible to all. Over the years, our work has expanded from Medicaid to include issues such as women’s reproductive health and health care disparities.
Our lawyers are among the best working on health care rights in the country, and we are proud of the victories that we have achieved, often in the face of substantial odds. At this critical time of health care reform implementation and state budget restrictions, the promises and challenges—and the demands for our services—are higher than ever.
